Steps to Take: Building Confidence and Decision Making
- Know your values and goals
It is important to have a clear understanding of your
personal values and business goals. When you are faced with a decision, you can
refer back to these to ensure that your decision aligns with what is important
to you and what you want to achieve. This can give you the confidence that you
are making the right decision. Training your staff to know the corporate values and goals can make a big difference too. I have heard my staff on phone calls with clients repeating our corporate values as a way to explain to customers why they are making the decision they are. Values help everyone feel empowered and clear.
- Gather information
Make sure you have all the information you need to make an
informed decision. This means doing your research, gathering data, and seeking
input from others who may have expertise in the area. Being well-informed can
help you feel more confident in your decision making. Pay attention to how big of a decision it is. If it is a small decision with little impact, make sure to not put a lot of time into research. Use research and time if the impact of the decision has potential to be big.
- Trust your instincts
As a female entrepreneur, you have likely faced situations
where you have had to rely on your instincts to make decisions. Trusting your
gut can be a powerful tool in decision making. If something doesn’t feel right,
it probably isn’t. Listen to your inner voice and have confidence in your
intuition. This is something that as women we are uniquely blessed with. Women often times have stronger intuition then men due to our biological make up. Use this to your advantage. Make sure however, you are not confusing intuition with fear. Sometimes when we are not confident in something, it can feel like intuition not to do it, when it is actually just fear. Ask yourself if it is intuition or fear guiding you and pay attention to the answer.
- Embrace failure
Fear of failure can hold you back from making decisions.
However, it is important to remember that failure is a natural part of the
entrepreneurial journey. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from making
decisions. Instead, embrace failure as an opportunity to learn and grow. Use
your failures as a stepping stone to your success. The faster one can move from failure, to seeing a silver lining, the more successful they will be. It is important to vent and to take a moment if needed when you feel failure. This being said, being able to quickly move towards the opportunity of learning from the failure is essential for building confidence and success. As long as you learn, and apply what you learned, there is no failure.
- Seek support
Building a network of supportive peers and mentors can be
invaluable in building confidence in decision making. Surround yourself with
people who believe in you and your business. Seek advice and input from those
you trust. Having a support system can help you feel more confident in your
ability to make decisions. This is why I have courses, group calls and one on one work at femme meets fortune. I have grown businesses with having a lot of coaching and support. Having people to bounce ideas off of is essential. When you are in the middle of your business decisions, you may not have an objective lens. It is hard to see the picture when you are in the frame. Having outside perspective often gives a more well rounded view into the decision making process. And when others confirm your decision, it can make you feel even more confident.
- Practice makes perfect
Remember that decision making is a skill that can be developed and improved over time. The more you practice making decisions, the more confident you will become. Don’t be afraid to make decisions, even if they are small ones. Each decision you make is an opportunity to build your confidence and improve your decision-making skills.
In conclusion, building confidence in decision making is essential for female entrepreneurs. By knowing your values and goals, gathering information, trusting your instincts, embracing failure, seeking support, and practicing your decision-making skills, you can become a more confident and effective decision maker. With confidence, you can make the decisions that will help you achieve your business goals and succeed as an entrepreneur.
NUMBER ONE THING TO DO TO BUILD CONFIDENCE = BUILD PLEASURE
Pleasure releases the hormone oxytoxin. Oxytoxin helps are stress response calm.
Humans make much better decisions (and communicate better) when they are not under stress. There is nothing that helps to regulate stress as effectively as the experience of pleasure. This is why we talk about pleasure throughout our courses, groups and one on one training.
